A spray painter is responsible for applying paint and coatings to various surfaces using spray equipment. They work in a variety of industries, including automotive, manufacturing, construction, and furniture refinishing. The primary objective of a spray painter is to ensure a smooth, even, and durable finish on the surfaces they are working on.

Responsibilities:

1. Surface Preparation: Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and applying primers as necessary. Remove old paint or coatings using appropriate techniques such as sandblasting or chemical stripping.

2. Paint Mixing: Prepare paint by mixing the appropriate colors and adjusting the consistency or viscosity for optimal spraying. Ensure accurate color matching and consistency throughout the painting process.

3. Spray Application: Operate spray equipment, such as paint guns, to apply paint or coatings to surfaces. Apply an even and consistent coat, avoiding drips, runs, or other defects. Control the spray pattern, pressure, and distance to achieve desired results.

4. Quality Control: Inspect surfaces after painting to ensure the finish meets the required standards. Touch-up or reapply paint as necessary to achieve the desired appearance. Perform quality checks for color accuracy, gloss, texture, and adhesion.

5. Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE), such as respirators, gloves, and safety glasses. Handle and store paint, solvents, and other chemicals safely and responsibly.

6. Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain spray equipment regularly to ensure proper functioning. Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs or adjustments when necessary. Report any equipment malfunctions or defects to the supervisor.

7. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of paint colors, mixing ratios, and other relevant information. Complete production logs, work orders, or other paperwork as required.

   
   

   
   

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Proven experience as a spray painter or similar role.

• Proficiency in using various spray equipment and techniques.

• Knowledge of different types of paints, coatings, and their applications.
